If not for the Lower Mainland Green Team, I would be inside on my smartphone or laptop wasting away time. Working with this group empowers me to make a difference!

The ecological impact is the obvious one, but aside from that I think the participants get to be reminded of our role in the natural world we're all a part of and come away with a sense of community spirit and connectedness.

More important than the direct benefits of removing invasive species is the sense of collective responsibility to our environment that is cultivated by getting people out to contribute together.

Thanks very much for this well organized and fun event! You are an amazing team and wonderful leaders!We appreciate all the time spent before, during, and after the event to ensure its success. We also appreciate the educational sessions and opportunity to help the environment and give back to our community. The healthy snack options were very much appreciated!

Today I was able to work beside and get to know folks who were, till now, strangers. In the warmth of a beautiful day, a stunning natural setting, and in the company of such a wonderful group of thoughtful and talented people I was able to share a love of what is good in this world. For me, this is everything. Thank you so much!

Holy smokes, what better way to improve mental health? Sense of community, feelings of accomplishment/pride in city/sense of stewardship, laughter, cooperation, chit-chat, fresh air, exercise, being in nature. I think people learn to look after their environment - what should be growing there and what shouldn't. I heard someone say that after getting involved with these sessions she pulls out Scotch broom sprouts now when she walks her dog!

My son and I have a strong sense of achievement in every volunteer activity. When we see that the natural environment has been improved through everyone's joint efforts, all our efforts are worth it!

Our participation was a team-building event for our department. The event truly brought coworkers closer together. The impact on the local area is also significant. We feel more connected to the space we worked in because of the time we spent removing invasive species.

It was really fun, and a good chance to get out in nature and make a difference.
