Highlights

  • In total 33 LMGT volunteers participated and contributed 66 volunteers hours
  • We found tons of earthworms hidden in the soil
  • The students and teachers walked 3 kms to and from their school to the activity!
  • We ate yummy homemade zucchini brownies for snacks!
  • We removed 0.5 cubic metres of Himalayan Blackberry from an area measuring about 100 square metres
  • The City of Coquitlam brush cut the Himalayan Blackberry canes, so Maillard students could focus on digging up the blackberry crowns (root system) – which means blackberry will have a much tougher time coming back!

Quotes from volunteers who participated

Can I do this for a living? – Maillard middle school student

Thank you for this opportunity – Rebecca, Maillard Middle School teacher
