Quarry Park June 16, 2018

The Greater Victoria Green Team and Friends of North Saanich Parks worked in the cool forest habitat in Quarry Park, removing English Ivy, Daphne and Holly! In total, 15 volunteers with the Greater Victoria Green Team contributed a total of 60 volunteer hours removing invasive English Ivy, Daphne, Japanese Honeysuckle and Holly from the forest around the North Saanich Strata!

Highlights

  • 22 volunteers were engaged (18 GVGT) and contributed 57 volunteer hours 
  • 15 of the volunteers had never been to Quarry Park before
  • 8 of the volunteers had never removed English Ivy before!
  • We removed 5 cubic metres of invasive plants
  • We revitalized an area measuring approx. 300 square metres
  • 5 volunteers took the bus, while 6 of us carpooled together in two cars.
