Anderson Hill Park July 4, 2020
The Greater Victoria Green Team organized a safe and fun, eco-volunteer activity at Anderson Hill Park in Oak Bay! We removed an area of English Ivy, Daphne and Blackberry to open room for native species to return! We followed careful health and safety guidelines to keep our community safe!
Thank-you to everyone for participating: Alwyn, Andre, Barbara, Blue, Chris, Dante, Deanna, Elle, Erin, Galaad, Helena, Jacquie, Jennifer, Jenny K, Jill, Julian, Kariss, Karlis, Kurt, Logan, Melina, Meredith, Richard, Riley and Terra.
Thank-you very much to the District of Oak Bay for partnering with us and contributing to our Green Team activities in your municipality and for recognizing the importance of collaboration in community engagement and ecological restoration!
- In total, over 2 short sessions, 30 volunteers participated and contributed 52 volunteer hours
- 14 of our GVGT volunteers had never been to Anderson Hill Park before, while 6 had never removed English Ivy before!
- We removed 7 cubic metres of invasive plants from an area measuring approximately 200 square metres!
Before and After
Everyone was very motivated and amazingly involved!
It was a wonderful opportunity to be outside in a safe environment, participating with a terrific group of volunteers, in a very well planned event during a challenging time.
(I enjoyed) Being with a group of people involved with the Community and helping with important restoration of a Garry Oak Meadow at Anderson Hill Park
