Ashton has been part of the Green Teams of Canada (GTC) community since 2018. Starting out volunteering with the Lower Mainland Green Team (LMGT), she immediately felt the sense of belonging fostered at GTC’s activities and resonated strongly with its mission to impact and empower people. She served on its Board of Directors for 2 years before becoming the LMGT Program Manager in January 2021, and transitioning into the LMGT Partnerships Manager role in July 2024.
Ashton is passionate about helping people understand, appreciate and take care of the environment through education and positive experiences in nature. She has an educational background in environmental science and experience in waste management, operations, interdisciplinary research and community engagement. She is a recipient of The Starfish Canada’s 2022 Top 25 Environmentalists Under 25 Award.
In her free-time, Ashton enjoys exploring new places on foot, cycling, playing volleyball and reading non-fiction.
