Colwood Creek Park October 27, 2018

The Greater Victoria Green Team with funding support from City of Colwood and Canada Post Foundation, organized 23 GVGT volunteers at Colwood Creek Park! We removed invasive Himalayan Blackberry and planted over 50 native trees and shrubs!

Highlights

  • 24 GVGT volunteers were engaged and contributed 74  volunteer hours
  • 20 of the volunteers had never removed Himalayan Blackberry before, while 19 have never planted native trees before. 
  • 22 of the volunteers had never been to Colwood Creek Park before.
  • We removed approximately 4 cubic metres of invasive plants from an area measuring approx. 100 square metres!
  • We planted 58 native trees and shrubs including native Dogwood, Western Red Cedar, Salal and Tall Oregon Grape.
