Kaltasin Park June 15, 2019

The Greater Victoria Green Team organized in partnership with the District of Sooke Parks a community engagement and environmental volunteer activity in Kaltasin Parks. 13 people came together to remove 13 cubic metres of invasive plants including English Ivy growing up trees, mature Spurge-laurel (Daphne) shrubs, and tall Holly shrubs! This was the first official partnered activity with the Green Teams and Sooke Parks and it went super well! We are excited for more upcoming activities in Sooke this fall!

Thank-you to everyone for participating: Helena, Jean-grace, Jim, Jory, Laura, Orb, Robert, Samuel, Susan, Tim and Wei!

Thank you very much to the District of Sooke for partnering with the Green Teams. Thank you for recognizing the importance of collaboration and partnership! Your support made it all possible.

Thank you to our in-kind sponsors for providing thank-you gifts to our volunteers: LUSH for providing natural perfume, West Coast Seeds, and dog poop bags from Earth Rated!! Granola bars were donated by the awesome Nature’s Path

What volunteers enjoyed about their experience

Being with young people, fresh air, physical activity, sense of accomplishment

The event reminded me what I most appreciate about the GVGT, always a well managed, welcoming and positive experience.

Your program provides a people friendly navigation system. There is a real interest in environmental volunteering, however many people are unsure of how to go the next step, your program provides the resources to make that happen.
