The Greater Victoria Green Team organized in partnership with the District of Sooke Parks a community engagement and environmental volunteer activity in Kaltasin Parks. 13 people came together to remove 13 cubic metres of invasive plants including English Ivy growing up trees, mature Spurge-laurel (Daphne) shrubs, and tall Holly shrubs! This was the first official partnered activity with the Green Teams and Sooke Parks and it went super well! We are excited for more upcoming activities in Sooke this fall!

Highlights
- 11 volunteers participated and contributed 35 volunteer hours!
- 9 volunteers had never been to Kaltasin Park before
- 8 volunteers had never removed Spurge-laurel before
- We removed 13 cubic metres of invasive plants
- Two volunteers walked down the street from their home to help. It was their first volunteer activity in Sooke and in their local park (that they regularly visit!).

Your program provides a people friendly navigation system. There is a real interest in environmental volunteering, however many people are unsure of how to go the next step, your program provides the resources to make that happen.
