City of Port Moody (Angela). Partnering with our charity has allowed community members to gain a sense of belonging , learn about how they can address climate change locally and make a tangible impact to their local park.
Awesome Lower Mainland Green Team volunteers:

Highlights
- 29 volunteers contributed 77 hours
- 30.5 cubic meters of invasive Himalayan Blackberry, English Holly and English Ivy (which out compete with our native plant species) were removed
- We cleared the area of garbage (we found a lot of balls from the dog park)
- 5 of the 29 volunteers visited Rocky Point Park for the first time
- 8 volunteers removed invasive plants for the very first time!
- Most volunteers came from Port Moody. They also came from Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Surrey, Burnaby and Vancouver
- One volunteer rode his bicycle from Burnaby
- Future forestry student (Alex) who starts her new program this fall 2020, from Heritage Woods Secondary measured our invasive plant pile at the end! Great field experience
- We had two Tri-Cities teachers
- One volunteer planned to create a lamp with some of English Ivy vine he pulled out
- The organizer walked a total of 15,000 steps (9 kms) supervising both volunter sites
- Volunteers educated passerbys about the importance of the work we were doing
- Mountain Equipment Co-op, Green Beaver (lip balms), West Coast Seeds provided environmental friendlier, socially conscious, natural and organic products to volunteers
- Yummy home made English Ivy shaped sugar cookies were happily eaten up
