The Greater Victoria Green Team organized a community and environmental activity in Saxe Point, Esquimalt. We planted more than 350 Douglas-fir trees and removed invasive English Ivy. Without intervention, Douglas-fir trees are rarely reproducing successfully because of all of the invasive species cover on the forest floor. Thankfully, the GVGT community and years of Esquimalt Parks involvement prior to our GVGT activities, have been helping to save the native species! Thank you to the parks staff Noah, Otto and Stef who helped supervise the activity and brought us all of the trees! A very special thank you to Rick Daykin who is the Esquimalt Parks Manager.
