Gulf View Park August 1, 2020
The Greater Victoria Green Team organized a community and environmental activity in Gulf View Park, North Saanich! This was a celebration to mark the Grande Finale (well close to) for the invasive species removal in the park! Since 2018, over 800 volunteer hours were contributed to removing close to 95% of the first coverage of invasive plants from the park (mainly English Ivy, Himalayan Blackberry and Daphne).
Thank-you to everyone for participating: Alec, Alwyn, Clark, Deanna, Helena, Julian, Matthew, Mieka, Nancy, Narada, as well as Jarret (and his kids Sarah and Amir) and Al (and his wife Bonnie) who have been the ongoing stewards of Gulf View Park!
Thank-you very much to District of North Saanich for partnering with us and contributing to our Green Team activities in your municipality and for recognizing the importance of collaboration in community engagement and ecological restoration!
- In total 18 volunteers participated and contributed 40 volunteer hours
- We removed 10 cubic metres of invasive plants from an area measuring approximately 200 square metres!
