The Greater Victoria Green Team organized a fun beach cleanup and eco-restoration event for community members and students from Dunsmuir Middle School! In total 50 people participated and helped to pick up 27 pounds of garbage from the shoreline and remove 2 cubic metres of invasive plants including Thistle and Blackberry.

Highlights
- 52 volunteers participated (including 41 students and teachers) and contributed 86 volunteer hours.
- 26 volunteers had never participated in a beach cleanup before!
- We picked up 27 pounds of garbage including 1005 cigarette butts, plastic and foam bits, food wrappers (lots from McDonalds and Tim Hortons!), and straws.
- We removed 2 cubic metres of invasive plants including Scotch Thistle, Himalayan Blackberry and Morning Glory
- Most of the volunteers walked from school (41), 1 volunteer took the bus, another biked and 2 others carpooled!
