Colwood Creek Park July 15, 2018

The Greater Victoria Green Team volunteers worked to remove 100s of blackberry roots from a slopped area in Colwood Creek Park! We will be back in the fall to pull up more blackberry and plant native species that will help re-stabilize the bank!

Highlights

  • 17 volunteers were engaged and contributed 42 volunteer hours 
  • 12 of the volunteers had never been to Colwood Creek Park before
  • 11 of the volunteers had never removed Himalayan Blackberry before!
  • We removed 8 cubic metres of invasive plants
  • We revitalized an area measuring approx. 150 square metres
  • 3 volunteers took the bus, 2 us carpooled together and 1 biked! 
  • 10 volunteers live in Saanich, 3 live in Colwood, 1 Oak Bay and 1 in Sooke
