The GVGT headed to Garry Oak Meadow Park yesterday in Garry Oak Meadow Park to remove invasive Himalayan Blackberry, Daphne and English Ivy. It was a wonderful day amongst many of our regular volunteers. Our efforts were led by View Royal‘s Habitat Restoration Project Coordinator Chris Junck who is wonderful to work with and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the parks we work in and the local ecology. Highlights
- In total 17 GVGT volunteers worked to remove Blackberry, Daphne and English Ivy, totalling more than 38 hours!
- An impressive 8 cubic metres of invasive species were removed from an area of 150 square metres!
- 10 people were introduced to the park
